Hurricane Wilma Damage 10/24/05 Coral Springs
Houses were all
fine... just a lot of roof damage, windows broken, pool enclosures down...
many signs, traffic lights and awnings down, dented cars and broken windshields.
The storm went over our
house in North Broward County at 120 mph sustained winds (category 3). They
thought it would lose strength
as it crossed over, but I guess the state is so skinny this far near the bottom
it didn't lose as much as they hoped!
Fortunately, we have great building codes in South Florida!

side of our house. At top you can kinda see some roof damage - we are missing about 30 of our clay tiles, fortunately no leaking! If you can see, part of the shutter is gone - it blew off during the storm, then the piece that is still attached peeled back. It was scary because then we could see things (that shouldn't be flying) flying past the window! That's actually a "regular" sized window at the top of the stairs on the second floor. at bottom - where our satellite dish used to be - those wires were actually flying up by the window during the storm. also at bottom - in the grass - one of our roof tiles! |
